Saint Clare's Wound Center Recognized with National Award for Clinical Excellence

DOVER, NJ – March 5, 2015 – Saint Clare’s Hospital received the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal, and other quality outcomes. There were 506 centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award, only 172 achieved the honor.

“Receiving the Center of Distinction Award places the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Saint Clare’s Hospital among some of the top wound care facilities nationwide,” said Saint Clare’s President and CEO Leslie D. Hirsch. “This recognition is another example of Saint Clare’s continued commitment to achieving clinical excellence for our patients.”

The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is a member of the Healogics Network of more than 635 Centers, and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating more than two million chronic wounds. The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds, which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.

“We are pleased to offer the community quality care for non-healing wounds in a local setting,” said Edward McManus, MD, medical director of the Saint Clare’s Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. “For patients, they need to know that if wound is present for more than four weeks or if their wound is still not improving after two weeks of treatment by their clinician, they need the expertise of a qualified wound center.”
