Volunteers Needed for Denville's Spring Rockaway River Cleanup

Township of Denville and Saint Clare’s Health System partner to sponsor annual event

(Denville, NJ, April 25, 2016)The annual Denville Rockaway River Cleanup will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Township of Denville and Saint Clare’s Health System are once again partnering in support of this event.

Registration, check-in, and site assignments for the cleanup begins at 9:00 a.m. at the lower parking lot near the emergency room entrance at Saint Clare’s hospital on 25 Pocono Road in Denville. Refreshments, bags, and requisite supplies will be provided.

Volunteers, civic groups, and organizations are needed to help remove litter and debris from the Rockaway River, as part of this crucial effort to prevent flooding. No experience is needed. Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Depending on availability, participants can sign up for two hours, a half-day, or the entire day.

Participants are strongly encouraged to wear long sleeves and pants, work gloves, sturdy boots or waders, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Those who own and can safely operate branch loppers and bow saws are invited to bring those as well.
