Overview

Saint Clare’s offers an extensive list of support groups, designed to offer physical, moral, emotional, and informational support for cancer patients in all stages of treatment and recovery. Specially trained oncology social workers are available to address individual patient, caregiver and family needs. In addition to one-on-one sessions, they also coordinate a number of group activities.

Our Programs

Psychosocial Counseling: Psychosocial counseling is available for patients and families undergoing treatment for at Cancer Care at Saint Clare’s. Call for more information.

Women Helping Women: Tackling Cancer Together: A psychoeducational group for women effected by cancer.

Living with Cancer: A support group to provide emotional and social support to anyone touched by cancer. Call for more information.

The Bereavement Group: A support group program for those who have lost friends or relatives to cancer. The group meets four times a year for eight weekly sessions. A Children’s Bereavement Group is also available. Call for start dates and to register.

Look Good…Feel Better: Sponsored by the Morris County Unit of the American Cancer Society; this group teaches women how to look and feel their best while undergoing cancer treatment. Call for further information, dates, times and locations.

Fighting Back with Fitness: Saint Clare’s and the Randolph YMCA have partnered to offer patients living with cancer a supportive environment where you can incorporate exercise into your plan.

Three classes offered include:

  • Water Wellness Program: An eight-week exercise and education program offered to women cancer patients who are 6 - 24 months post-surgery. One hour in a therapeutic warm water pool followed by an hour of support and education. No swimming ability is required.

Children’s Groups: Saint Clare’s offers several support group programs for children, including a unique group that allows children, ages 6 - 12, to learn coping skills through expressive therapies. This group meets as needed for eight weekly sessions. Call 973-366-1120 for more information.
