Succeeding in Weight Loss
With bariatric or weight loss surgery, you have made a commitment to change
your lifestyle and live a happier and healthier life. Below are some helpful
keys to successfully maintaining this lifestyle:
Try to eat three structured meals per day
and practice mindful eating. Listen to your hunger cues, learn to read the food triggers that govern
your impulses and once you understand that, the rest is your motivation
and commitment to living a healthier life.
Focus on protein first – Protein best meets the nutritional requirements of your new stomach
and body. Chew food well and remember to stop eating before you feel full.
Drink water – 64 oz. or more is the goal. Water is best but any non-carbonated,
sugar free beverage is acceptable.
Exercise Regularly – Physical activity is half of the weight loss equation, equally
as important as your new nutritional intake! Additionally, exercise releases
hormones into the body that not only make you feel good, but also help
to curb hunger. Consistent exercise will help you lose more weight, keep
it off, and live a healthier life overall.
