What may begin as a persistent, annoying cough or increasing shortness
of breath could progress over time into a disabling condition that limits
the ability to perform daily tasks and slowly robs the enjoyment of life.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center at Saint Clare’s Dover offers
a comprehensive program for residents in northwestern New Jersey that
is designed for and dedicated to pulmonary rehabilitation. The Center,
which is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and
Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), offers a full range of services including
ongoing education, support, exercise and maintenance programs.
After a comprehensive evaluation, pulmonary rehabilitation patients participate
in two-hour sessions, which meet two times per week, for a total of 18
exercise sessions. The sessions include one hour of education and open
discussion and one hour of supervised exercise in a group setting. To
participate in the program, patients must be referred by their primary
care physician, pulmonologist and/or cardiologist.
