Graduate Medical Education
Observership Policy:
- Due to the Covid -19 pandemic we will temporarily, we will temporarily not be allowing observers to our program till cleared by Dr. McManus.
- Observership will be available in General internal medicine and critical care.
- The observer must have HR approval and clearance. They must fill out an Observership Application.
- Applicant must have taken and passed - Step one
- Applicant must have taken and passed - step 2 CK
- Applicant must have passed - step 2 CS
- Applicants must submit a copy of their medical school Transcript and send his/her CV
- Applicants must submit a copy of their valid ECFME Certificate.
- Applicants must submit a Letter of reference from someone they worked with.

Appropriate candidates:
- A medical student is interested in our Program.
- A practicing physician from another country who wishes to gain American experience.
- A graduate of an international medical school who wishes to gain US experience who is in the process of applying to our program.
- There will be an application fee of $300 dollars.
- Any request for observership must be approved by the program director.
- Observers are not licensed, are not covered by malpractice insurance, and may not provide any clinical care, or medical advice. Observers may not see or interact with patients individually. Observers may not examine patients, write in the EMR, or provide medical care.

The following activities are permissible for observership:
- Participate in all teaching rounds and lectures or any other didactic activities.
- Participate in case conferences
- View all video tapes of conferences
- Participate in any Sim center activities.
- Multiple rotations are permitted for a maximum of 8 weeks.
- Observers would be limited to 1 observer per hospital for the present time.
- Applicant will present proof of required vaccination.
- Applicant is required to have legal status - appropriate visa/GC/Citizenship

As a means to serve our community and invest in the future of our society the Prime Health Care Consortium (PHCC) at Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital and St. Mary’s General residency programs are focused on the essentials of the future of medical education. Affiliated with St. George Medical School, PHCC is responsible for training a number of medical students from all backgrounds while focusing on training the future medical leaders through our residency programs.
With the expertise and strength of our experienced and knowledgeable medical staff of over 1,200 in a variety of specialties, PHCC will be starting a residency program in Internal Medicine, with an already established program in Podiatry. All programs will provide clinical and educational experiences at PHCC affiliated hospitals and ambulatory care centers.
GME Staff is available to assist and answer any questions you may have regarding residency at PHCC.
