Center for Robotic Surgery
Overview
Robotic assisted surgery is designed to provide surgeons with enhanced capabilities, including high-definition 3D vision and a magnified view. Although it is called “robotic surgery,” your physician is in complete control and the system cannot operate on its own. The system translates the physicians hand movements to small instruments inside of the body.
Our Team
Our robotic surgical team includes board-certified and board eligible surgeons trained on the latest innovations in robot technology, as well as experienced operating room staff, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses.
The da Vinci® Xi™ Surgical System
Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital is pleased to offer the latest in robotic surgery - the da Vinci Xi Surgical System. The da Vinci Xi System advances the technology currently used in minimally invasive surgery. The System can be used across a spectrum of minimally invasive surgical procedures including gynecology, urology, thoracic, cardiac and general surgery.
As with all da Vinci Surgical Systems, the surgeon is 100% in control of the robotic-assisted da Vinci System. The system translates the physician’s hand movements into smaller, more precise movements, and the Xi System’s immersive 3D-HD vision system provides surgeons a highly magnified view, virtually extending their eyes and hands.
Key features include:
- Access from virtually any position
- Simpler, more compact design with improved vision definition and clarity
- Flexibility for visualizing the surgical site
- Greater range of motion
- Surgeons have a greater operative reach.
Benefits of Robotic Surgery
Robotic technology offers an alternative approach to traditional surgery and conventional laparoscopic surgery. It allows doctors to perform complex procedures through just a few small incisions. As a result, you may be able to get back to life faster than the usual recovery time following major surgery.
Benefits may include:
- Less pain
- Reduced scarring
- Reduced blood loss
- Shorter recovery time
